For a while, I wanted to put together a lookbook that showcases how I used my capsule pieces to create multiple outfits. In real life, besides the top 1% people no one else can afford to buy new clothes everyday, so out spending what’s allowed just to get the latest is not healthy to our mind and financial situation. But, on the other end of the spectrum, to deny our desire for a fresh, up-to-date, and upscale look and not buying anything at all is also not healthy.

Finding a balance is the key to remain a healthy personal finance and a stylish wardrobe. It’s easy said then done. But here’s a few tips I found useful:

  • Set a monthly budget.
  • Stick with what Vivienne Westwood said: “Buy less buy better.”
  • Buy things because you love them, not because they are the latest or popular.
  • Discipline yourself. Don’t buy things because they are on sale or they are the knock off version of what you love. You will thank yourself later.
