Lately, I’m reading a book called The Distant Land of My Father by Bo Caldwell, which brings me back again to that sad yet romantic time in Shanghai right before World War II. Women dressed elegantly and went about their daily businesses in a graceful manner.

When I saw this outfit, it immediately reminded me of those feminine women who had walked those old Shanghai streets. How funny, from this book and other books I have read about this period of Shanghai I learned, that the life style and fashion style really haven’t changed much in the past 70 some years.
